What type of trends go into consideration when developing skill-based games? We spend a lot of time looking at how millennials and Gen X/Y are engaging with technology in other areas of their life. This research influences the types of experiences that we want to create to drive engagement on the casino floor. Mobile has been such a big component of our daily lives, and our goal is to integrate the best of these experiences into our products.

What are you most excited to showcase at ICE? We have a number of really exciting new products we are showcasing at ICE this year. Probably the most exciting is Race Ace Arcade™, the newest addition to IGT’s Skillcade™ portfolio. Race Ace Arcade is a skill-based driving experience that envelops players with three immersive monitors and is paired with a sophisticated motion chair that transports players to a virtual competitive road race environment arena. The chair will twist, turn, rumble, vibrate, and emit sound, giving players the sensation of participating in a real-life auto race! Other marquee skill-based games in IGT’s stand include the omni-channel narrative story-based game, Lucky’s Quest™ and the highly anticipated Video Reel Edge ™ hybrid skill themes Texas Tea Pinball™, Cleopatra® Pinball™, Little Fish Big Fish™ and Fuzzy’s Fortune™.

Since last year’s show, what advancements have been made in our skill-based game portfolio? Last year, we highlighted our Video Reel Edge™ segment, which was really emphasized by Texas Tea Pinball™. This year, we really took a huge step forward and removed the “reels” and replaced it with our new Skillcade™ products, Lucky’s Quest™ and Race Ace Arcade™. Both of the Skillcade products allow the players to take over the controls and use their skill to increase their chances of getting the next big jackpot.

Anything else you’d like to share? In order for casinos to really win over the next generation of players, they need to think about the total experience, in addition to the products that go into a special area of their floor. They also need to place more emphasis on inviting players to check out the new experiences that the operators have created. To that end, we have created unique marketing tools that help the operator drive traffic into the property to try out these new games.
